How Do You Drive True Digital Change In Your Org?
I hear a lot about large companies wanting to better their digital presence, their customer experience, invest in technology and adapt to the moving times.
In many cases they are struggling. I always ask who controls the budget.
Most of the time in these companies:
1. The digital team is a separate team and not embedded into the operations and marketing
2. The budget is controlled by the ops and marketing team and they have the final say on how much they invest in digital, and on what, but no domain knowledge.
There’s your problem right there. If you want to drive digital change, put your money where your mouth is and empower your digital team by integrating them and letting them make their own investment decisions.
You need to empower the people that can make it happen. Without empowerment, traditional minded decision making will derail any transformation. The longer it takes because of that, the more you will lose faith in it. It’s an endless cycle. Break out of it and give those people the power to implement change.
I love this superb quote that works for Business Transformation as much as for personal
“Each part of the nature wants to go on with its old movements and refuses, so far as it can, to admit a radical change and progress, because that would subject it to something higher than itself and deprive it of its sovereignty in its own field, its separate empire. It is this that makes transformation so long and difficult a process.”
